With few exceptions all of our machines are diesel or electric powered via hydraulics (fluid power) and incorporate some type of a control system.
We have an immediate opening for one of the best fluid power designers around to head up our “hydraulics” department. We require a high-level person to take charge of the fluid power technical aspects of our operation. This position welcomes applicants aspiring to a managerial position once they have proven themselves.

Designing systems is the primary purpose of this position, however we require a hands-on approach encompassing the conception, creation, and shop floor collaboration and the after sale follow up of your projects. You will take total responsibly and be accountable as to the successful outcome of your designs and to the overall customer satisfaction with the performance of our products.

Hard working employee with great attendance, great attitude, quest for knowledge and a “can do” personality. A self-starter with lots of ideas. Conservative in your designs, but always willing to look for a better way.
- At least 10 years’ experience in fluid power design (hydraulics) which simply boils down to selecting best components for your design, researching costs, availabilities etc. to work within our client’s or the project’s delivery and budget requirements. At least 75% will be mobile design and 25% industrial. Total familiarity with load sense pumps, pressure compensated sectional valves and all the latest and greatest products.
- You are just as comfortable at client’s desk discussing and proposing ideas as you are sitting behind your own desk implementing them. Very intuitive as to whether an inquiry has potential and to aggressively run with it if it opens more opportunities for us.
- Extremely competent with any version CAD schematic software. We presently use HyDraw for schematics.
- Must be able and willing to team with shop floor mechanics to work through any problems with designs or complicated repairs and to always strive to make the final product simply better. Willing to help our junior sales reps with designs and problem solving.
- Must be able and willing to travel on short notice to any world location to either trouble shoot problems, accompany a technician to collaborate or to work with a potential client on specifications on a new design or to improve on existing products or design. This position initially will have very little travel but could work into at least 10% away from home as our global customer base expands. More travel if you want it.
- Experience in the design and / or operation and purpose of most “smaller than oil patch” exploration drilling rigs, compressors, boosters, diamond core drills, air rotary, reverse circulation, geotechnical, seismic shot hole etc.
- Have some familiarity with basic electric motor control and selection. Basic diesel engine control and selection. Have an interest in J1939 engine control and be willing to become the resident expert.
- Have some familiarity with basic electronic controls and selection. Know where to go to get information on what you don’t know.
- Familiarity with all the usual office software programs and be able to either create graphic documents for parts and service manuals or at the very least feed the appropriate information to others to create the final documents and manuals.
- Experience with pneumatics, components selection and design.
- Able and willing to host in-house training sessions.
- Able and willing to put on small seminars in client’s facility, usually during a machine commissioning, explaining the machine’s systems to non-technical operators.
- Experience with air compressor controls, particularly rotary screw single and 2 -stage.
- Solid modeling CAD experience.
- Bilingual; English & Spanish or English & French an asset
