St Joseph’s Healthcare, Hamilton is seeking interested psychiatrists to work in the Schizophrenia Inpatient and Outpatient Service. The Service is dedicated to providing specialized care to patients with Schizophrenia and other psychotic disorders in a collegial environment which fosters education and research. The successful candidate would care for patients on one of three inpatient units at the St Joseph’s West 5th site and also manage patients within our outpatient service.
At this time, we are seeking interested psychiatrists who could provide full time and/or part time support to this service. In this position you will:
- Manage the care of 10 inpatients on an inpatient unit at St Joe’s West 5th Site, dedicated to the care of persons with Schizophrenia and other psychotic disorders.
- Be responsible for managing an active case load of patients in the TOPPS (Transitional Outpatient Program for Persons with Schizophrenia) and Schizophrenia Outpatient Clinic.
- Work as a member of a multidisciplinary team which includes nursing and allied staff.
- Participate in weekly interdisciplinary meetings and case conferences.
The successful candidate must hold a valid Ontario CPSO license and be a trained psychiatrist with FRCPC or equivalent. There will be an expectation that the physician will be eligible for a Faculty position with the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioural Neurosciences, McMaster University, and that they will have an interest and aptitude for teaching and/or clinical research.
