Assistant and Associate Professor position
The Faculty of Medicine at the University of Ottawa invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position related to host-pathogen interaction within the Department of Biochemistry, Microbiology and Immunology and the Center for Infection, Immunity, and Inflammation (CI3). This new faculty member will have a background that will allow them to successfully develop a dynamic and collaborative research program focusing on host-pathogen interaction with a specific focus on emerging bacteria.

The Department of Biochemistry, Microbiology and Immunology comprises over 100 faculty members. It features a vibrant research atmosphere addressing fundamental questions in basic biomedical research with strong links to translational and clinical research. The successful candidate is expected to establish and maintain a vigorous and independent research program and contribute to undergraduate and graduate teaching programs in French.
Title of the position: Assistant Professor. The higher rank of Associate Professor will only be considered should the successful candidate possess an appropriate level of experience and commensurate achievements.
Number of positions available: One (1)
Duties: The functions of a member of the academic staff include, in varying proportions: a) teaching activities; b) scholarly activities evidenced by research, artistic or literary creation, or professional work; c) academic service activities; and d) supervision of graduate students and other research trainees.
Terms: Tenure-track position.
Wage: Assistant Professor salary scale commensurate according to APUO salary scale. Note: salary for higher ranks is commensurate according to rank and experience.

Relocation expenses: The successful candidate may be eligible for reimbursement of relocation expenses in accordance with the University policy.

Education: PhD or MD/PhD

Work experience: Postdoctoral experience, or equivalent, with demonstrated excellent research achievements. A commitment to teaching and graduate training, a strong track record in, and a commitment to, interdisciplinary collaboration.
