GlassHouse Botanics Inc, a licensed Cannabis producer, is looking to hire an Integrated Pest Management/Irrigation Team Lead. Reporting to the IPM/IRR Supervisor, the IPM/Irrigation Team Lead will direct the IPM/IRR Team in execution of the Integrated Pest Management and/or Irrigation strategies which include all aspects of biological and chemical pest control measures, fertigation and irrigation protocols and environmental condition status in the cultivation rooms.
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Support the IPM/Irrigation Supervisor with management of the team and ensuring tasks are being completed.
- Monitor pest populations and impact on plant health, effectiveness of natural pest predators, and environmental factors that may contribute to pest problems.
- Executing on guidance as provided by the IPM/Irrigation Supervisor, Alternate Master Grower and Master Grower.
- Manage the day-to-day tasks of the team, while considering quality of work and productivity of each team member.
- Complete monthly and/or yearly evaluations with each team member.
- Provide hands on assistance, and guidance to all team members as needed.
- Ensure that biological control inventory is dispersed on time and in a manner that is productive.
- Report any deviations from established procedures to IPM/IRR Assistant Team Lead and IPM/IRR Team Lead.
- Complete electrical conductivity (EC) and pH measurements, soil analysis and leaf samples to ensure fertigation is tailored to plant needs.
- Manage the team’s safe work with chemicals such as fertilizers, pesticides (spraying), and sanitizers
- Perform regular calibration and verification of nutrient testing instruments and the irrigation system.
- Document all findings; complete inspection reports and provide reports to Supervisor
- Apply preventative measures and control products; document action taken.
- Follow the Cannabis Act, Cannabis Regulations, and any new revisions set by PMRA.
- Perform proper pesticide handling, mixing, application, documentation, storage and disposal.
- Comply with company procedures, policies, regulatory requirements, and guidelines of current and future market.
- Maintain documentation of completed tasks.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Experience and demonstrated ability to manage a team in a fast paced and dynamic environment, with multiple priorities.
- Hands-on IPM related role within horticulture
- Ability to learn and understand the applicable provincial laws and regulations set by PMRA as they pertain to cannabis.
- Passion for plant life, care and natural medicine
- Ability receive and apply feedback on a regular basis.
- Ability to sit, kneel, bend, and stand for a long time, and frequently walk during the scheduled shift.
- Proficient with Microsoft suite, and ability to learn industry standardized computer software.
- Ability to accurately follow multi-layered instructions.
- Position requires holding/being able to obtain certification to handle pesticides in Ontario.
Conditions of employment: All applicants being considered for employment will be required to pass a criminal background check prior to hire.
Job Specific Demands: Applicants must be fit and able to lift 50 lbs comfortably. Applicants must be flexible to work variable shifts and have reliable transportation. Hours are full time but may include weekends or evenings, depending on production needs. Some tasks require standing or sitting for extended periods of time.
Our Environment: Plants like heat and humidity. To be successful in this position you need to be comfortable working in an enclosed environment with high heat and humidity, wearing protective clothing, hair covering and other Personal Protective Equipment.
Wage and Benefits: $22.00 to start, full benefits after three months. Wage increases will be considered on a yearly or a performance basis.
