Sandbox Software, located in downtown Guelph Ontario, is excited to be seeking out an Intermediate to Senior WordPress Developer for our growing team. Our ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills (written and verbal), creativity, attention to detail and enthusiasm for working in a small company with a family-like culture.
You will be responsible for coding quality web projects as outlined in the respective Solution Overview and project plan. You will support developers on the team, assist in the architecture of solutions and code more demanding/complicated components associated with websites and web solutions. This role is accountable to the Web Team Lead.
THE JOB, DECODED
- Support Business Development team members in confirming project budgets and technical requirements
- Review and gain a thorough understanding of project-specific business requirements, particularly as they relate to product development
- Support the Web Team Lead in client meetings during the project life cycle, to understand and respond to client needs (requirements gathering, status updates, etc.)
- Work as part of a development team in the implementation of projects and maintain proper communication to team members and clients throughout the development process
- Promote technical best practices among team members
- Write and debug code based on reading and understanding of provided requirements
- Ensure architecture is complete, correct and consistent, using best practices and coding standards
- Possesses attention to detail while developing CSS and adhering to the XD designs provided
- Participate with team members in learning new approaches, methodologies and techniques
- Assist with Quality Assurance activities associated with development team
- Assist the Support team in setting up hosting environments, and responding to client-submitted requests for site maintenance/changes
- Provide knowledge sharing to transition completed projects to the Support team
- Possesses the knowledge and ability to support complex helpdesk requests
- Manage your own tasks and time in project management software
- Open to developing in Oasis, Sandbox's java-based proprietary content management system.

IF YOU HAVE….
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
- Five years minimum developing advanced responsive websites and web solutions
- Five years minimum developing WordPress themes and plugins from scratch or using a boilerplate
- Understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP)
IF YOU ALSO HAVE…
- Software/Web Application Development experience using either PHP, PHP Frameworks (Laravel, Symphony, Codeigniter)
- Experience with Drupal, Magento (nice to have)
- Software/Web Development experience in Java
- DevOps experience
