BBA has an opportunity for a Senior or Intermediate Structural Designer in the Vancouver office to support our projects in Heavy industrial, Hydro and Mining. The designer will be focused on Revit modelling, drawings, and design collaboration with Designers and Engineers colleagues.

Prepare layout drawings of concrete and steel structures for projects in the following sectors:mining and metals, energy, oil and gas, hydroelectric, sustainable development, etc.

Model 3D plans and coordinate information with other disciplines

Work closely with other project team members

Occasionally monitor work and perform field surveys

Maintain friendly, close relationships with clients or their representatives and ensure their satisfaction

Test and implement new versions of Revit

Coordinate and verify models (quality and data)

Convert models across various CAD tools

Assisting in the development of new project work through client interaction

Developing construction quantities, estimate design costs and utilize estimating software to create project cost reports

Conducting and coordinate detailed design work

Providing design & project guidance and mentoring to junior staff

Civil engineering technician/technology diploma from a recognized college
-
10 plus years of experience with Revit modelling
-
Structural design experience using Revit in Mining infrastructure and heavy industrial projects
-
Interpreting complex drawings that incorporate interfacing structural design requirements with piping/mechanical, electrical and other aspects of industrial work

Drafting and design experience within a consulting engineering environment

Advanced knowledge of preventive measures, health and safety rules at work and hazardous material regulations in the workplace

Show creativity and innovation in problem-solving

Adhering to established design guidelines and procedures

Maintaining accurate design files for reference purposes
