The Human Resources Generalist position is a full-time (approximately 40 hours/week) position at our Moose Jaw facility (located at 720 Lillooet Street West, Moose Jaw. Saskatchewan and involves working Monday to Friday during operational working hours)
Assigned to the DFF Thunder Creek Pork plant located in Moose Jaw SK, the Human Resources Generalist plays an integral role in the support of the various team members. Working in conjunction with corporate-level HR programs, the generalist provides day to day essential human resources programs in support of the organization’s Mission, Vision, Values. The generalist is an active member of the site leadership team to ensure the application of sound human resource management practices.

Critical Objectives
- Ensure HR transactional activities/plans following company strategy
- Ensure recruitment, onboarding and orientation activities meet customer expectations
- Ensure effective HR site activities conform with the site and corporate safety, quality, and service standards
- Maintain a strong customer service relationship with internal and external customers
- Facilitate the execution of the site management/union LR meetings
- Ensure consistent employee relations service levels
RESPONSIBILITIES
1) Recruitment
- Lead recruiting activities as needed, shortlist, screen, and coordinate interviews for the Company’s Moose Jaw, SK location
- Complete reference checks and facilitate employment offers
- Manage the Temporary Foreign Worker program (LMIA, SINP, and RNIP)
- Enter new hires into the timekeeping system/HRIS
- Orientation and Onboarding
- Coordinate and host orientation sessions for new hires at the Company’s Moose Jaw, SK location
- Ensure that key onboarding milestones are met for all new hires
- Track probationary periods for pay and benefits purposes
2) Retention
- Design and develop mechanisms to analyze key drivers behind Company turnover and implement employee retention strategies to address gaps
- Work in conjunction with other members of the HR team to ensure a consistent approach on all employment matters between locations
- Execute exit interviews
- Metrics and reporting
- Maintain recruitment and turnover metrics and report out
- Analyze turnover and engagement metrics and recommend action plans for areas of opportunity
- Maintain employee training matrix
3) Employee Rewards & Events
- Plan and facilitate Company events
- Research, recommend and sustain employee rewards program
- Maintains recognition programs
4) Administrative Support
- Maintaining employee files, both paper and electronic (HRIS) ensuring files are kept current.
- Manage the payroll and benefits ADP support for staff members; absence and time management; includes tracking probationary periods, benefits and review dates; advising management in a timely fashion of upcoming dates.
- Assisting in the coordination of benefits paperwork and offering employee assistance when required.
- Fielding employee queries regarding benefits and payroll ensures confidentiality is strictly maintained.
- Manage administration of WCB claims (including First Aid reports)

5) Brand Ambassador
- In alignment with the recruitment strategy identifying approaches for attracting new talent and positioning within the market.
- Responsible for full-cycle recruitment of hourly employees (screening applications, scheduling interviews, preparing paperwork and conducting reference checks).
- Develop and manage recruitment procedures including job descriptions, job postings, and advertising; screen and select candidates for interview based on knowledge, skill and abilities; onboard and provide new hire orientation; conduct exit interviews.
- Support the HR and Operations teams in the facilitation of all Company Events
- Work in a manner that exemplifies honesty, integrity quality, and trust encouraging employees to strive and maximize their ability and performance

Requirements
- Diploma with a focus in HR Management or equivalent combination of education and work experience
- WCB experience in claims management
- Experience with Temporary Foreign Worker's Program is very essential
- Minimum 3 years of experience in Human Resources with a focus on high volume recruitment
- CPHR designation or working towards it is considered an asset
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and act under pressure
- Excels as an individual contributor and active team member
- Strong written and oral communication skills in English
- Knowledge in Office Word, Excel and Outlook
- Valid Class 5 license
- Occasional travel will be required to attend any recruitment fairs
- Preference will be given to candidates with experience providing HR support within a Unionized manufacturing environment
