We’re looking for a Senior Manager, Tax to join our Finance team. This role is for someone who is a strategic and analytical thinker that takes pride in the quality of their work. We’re expanding quickly and are seeking a Senior Manager, Tax to support our global tax compliance. You’ll be working with a team that values excellence and initiative. What you’ll work on:
Lead Clio’s global income tax compliance, focusing on Canada, USA, and Ireland, ensuring timely and accurate preparation and filing of tax returns in compliance with local tax laws and regulations.
Lead Clio’s global indirect tax compliance, focusing on Canada, USA, the European Union, and the United Kingdom, ensuring compliance with local indirect tax requirements, including sales tax, GST, and VAT. In addition, Design and lead global indirect tax recovery initiatives, identifying opportunities to recover overpaid taxes and implementing effective, scalable processes.
Act as Clio’s subject matter expert on taxation requirements and lead process improvement and change management projects, overseeing the implementation, communication, and training for internal stakeholders.
Develop and implement tax strategies to optimize the company's overall tax position, including identifying tax planning opportunities and ensuring tax efficiency in domestic and international operations.
Design and maintain Clio’s global transfer pricing regime, ensuring compliance with transfer pricing regulations and guidelines, while finding opportunities to optimize our global effective tax rate.
Manage the company's global Research & Development (R&D) tax credit application processes, collaborating with external advisors and internal engineering teams to maximize R&D tax incentives.
Serve as the primary point of contact for external tax advisors, government auditors, and financial auditors, maintaining effective relationships and managing all taxation-related inquiries and audits.
Provide expert advice to the business on the tax implications of strategic and operational decisions, including mergers and acquisitions, cross-border transactions, and international expansions.
Prepare documentation and memos to support Clio’s tax positions and amounts filed, ensuring compliance with tax laws and regulations.
Conducting tax research and staying updated on changes in tax laws, regulations, and rulings that may impact the company's tax positions and compliance requirements.
Manage the reconciliation of general ledger accounts and journal entries related to taxes, and oversee the preparation of financial statement tax notes under US GAAP.
Design and maintain internal controls over the income and indirect tax processes, ensuring the effectiveness of tax-related controls and compliance with internal policies and regulations.
What you may have:
Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field. Advanced degree or professional certification (e.g., CPA, CMA) preferred.
Extensive experience in tax management, preferably within a large multinational company or public accounting firm.
In-depth knowledge of tax laws and regulations in Canada, USA, and the EU, with a focus on income tax and indirect tax.
Strong understanding of transfer pricing principles and regulations.
Experience managing tax compliance processes and working with external advisors and auditors.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Strong project management and change management capabilities.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
Detail-oriented and highly organized, with the ability to handle multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
Knowledge of US GAAP tax accounting principles.
Ability to adapt to changing tax laws and regulations and stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices.
