What is the opportunity?
IMS currently has openings for energetic individuals to join our Cable Mechanical Assembly team to build a career as a Mechanical Cable Assembler. If you have an aptitude for working with your hands and using basic power tools and enjoy structured work that relies on your keen attention to detail, we want to hear from you! We are busy and an ideal candidate is someone who likes to keep a steady pace.
There are three openings on our day DAY and EVENING SHIFT.
DAY SHIFT - Monday to Friday as follows; 6:30 am - 3:00 pm. Salary depends on experience and electronics knowledge
EVENING SHIFT - Monday to Thursday as follows; 3:00 pm to 11:30 pm. There is a shift differential of $1.00 per hour on top of the starting hourly rate. Salary depends on experience and electronics knowledge
What will you do?
- Use of power tools for assembling products
- Use of Cable cutting and assembly machines such as cutting/crimping/stripping and soldering of wires
- Taping and masking of circuit boards for conformal coat spray, applying and operating machinery for conformal coat line, and learning to program the automated conformal coat machine
- Ability to read and interpret simple cable drawings
- Some functional testing for customer product
- Writing and updating Mechanical procedures, mechanical assembly instructions
- Read and fill out paperwork as needed
- Maintain the general organization and cleanliness of your workstation and department
- Other duties as assigned. Cross training is provided across the board at IMS giving staff the flexibility to move to different departments as needed.
What do you need to succeed?
Must-Haves
- Must be able to speak, read, and write fluent English clearly
- Basic computer skills
- Excellent communication and organizational skills, is detailed and works well with their hands,
- Works effectively and efficiently within a group or independently
- Ability and concentration to do repetitive work throughout the shift
- Friendly, positive attitude, willingness to learn the business, customers needs and processes at IMS
- Excellent attendance record, shows up to work on time for each shift
- Past experience is an asset
Working Conditions
Working conditions are normal for an electronics manufacturing environment. Work can involve lifting of materials and product up to 25 lbs and standing for periods of time. Machinery operation requires the use of safety equipment and safety training to operate. WHMIS training provided for all employees. There will be times where chemicals will be used in the production process.
Further details:
This is a full-time position based in Calgary, AB. Those who apply should have their own transportation and be able to arrive to work on time using public transportation. There is limited or no public transportation after 11:30 pm for those working the evening shift.
Salary: $17.50 - $20.00 / hour based on experience and knowledge of Electronics Manufacturing. Opportunity to earn overtime pay after 40 hours per week.

Schedule:
- 8 hour day shift - Monday to Friday (2 paid 15 minute breaks, 1 - 30 minute unpaid lunch break)
- 10 hour evening shift - Monday to Thursday 3:00 pm to 1:30 am (2 paid 15 minute breaks, 1 - 30 minute unpaid dinner break)
Vacation, Statutory Holidays and Birthday:
- 80 hours (2 weeks to start)
- A paid week off over Christmas (combination of Stat holidays and paid time by IMS)
- A paid Birthday day off in the month of your birthday
- Statutory holidays (even when they don't fall on your regular work day)
