Laboratory Technician A – Inorganics/Environmental

Summary:
AGAT Laboratories is currently hiring for a Laboratory Technician A to join our Inorganics/Environmental working out of our Dartmouth, NS facility. This position is the third level position into the laboratory. This position is given direction from the Laboratory Supervisor. The Laboratory Technician A is able to work independently on laboratory activities and is responsible for maintaining some of the instruments being used in the lab.
This is a permanent position and the schedule is Monday to Friday from 8 to 4:30.
Duties:

Perform sample, reagent and calibration preparation as directed;

Calibrate, operate, maintain, troubleshoot and conduct routine maintenance on all assigned instruments;

Compile, verify and validate accurate data records;

Meet quality assurance and turnaround specifications;

Follow all Quality Control and Standard Operating Procedures;

Report results
-
Other duties assigned.
Qualifications:
-
Technical Diploma or degree in Science required (Bachelor of Science);

3+ years laboratory experience;
-
Able to operate, troubleshoot and maintain analytical instrument;

Knowledge of full laboratory processes;
-
Basic computer skills;
-
Ability to work in a positive manner in a fast paced environment;

Candidates with ICP knowledge/experience would be an asset.

Good communication skills and fluency in English both verbal and written.

Hand-Eye coordination and attention to detail.

Mature work ethic, with the ability to work independently and in a team environment.

Work Environment: This position requires a person to stand, sit and lift throughout the shift in a laboratory environment. Manual dexterity is required to perform repetitive tasks. PPE is required where applicable.
