Position Title: General/Generator Mechanic (Fly-in/Fly-out)
Salary Range: $60/hr + OT
About the Client and Role
We are on the hunt for an experienced and licensed Heavy Equipment Technician, Heavy Duty Mechanic, Automotive Mechanic or Heavy Truck Technician who is qualified to perform the duties of a Generator or General Mechanic to support the Operations and Maintenance of an industrial facility in the far north. We need someone experienced working with fixed plant equipment such as power house (diesel generators), water treatment plant and some mobile, such as snow mobiles, pickups, graders, etc. Cold Climate/Rotation experience preferred. This is a fly-in, fly-out facility, with a 6 week turnaround. Day shift except for emergencies. This is a Contract position, however, permanent is also offered. Pay is $60/hr plus overtime after 40 hours per week. Typical work day is 10-12 hours, one day off per week. Flights paid and accommodation are provided.

Key responsibilities for this role will include:

Troubleshoot and repair of fixed plant equipment such as diesel generators/power house, water treatment plant, site services facilities, some mobile equipment such as snowmobiles, pickups, telehandlers, graders, loaders.

The disassembly/overhaul of engines or engine components, drive systems components and other assemblies

The diagnosis of equipment problems; identifying and replacing worn or broken parts as required, and making all necessary adjustments and alignments

Preventative maintenance

Keeping the shop clean
-
Other duties as required
The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:
-
A valid Heavy Equipment Technician, Heavy Duty Mechanic (421A), Automotive (310S), Truck and Coach (310T) License with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in repair and service of heavy equipment both in the shop and in the field

Proven track record in safe work practices and quality workmanship

Ability to work alone and unsupervised in remote areas

Focused, energetic and organized with superior attention to detail and a sense of urgency

Excellent troubleshooting and diagnostic skills

Motivated and hard working with a professional attitude

Ability to understand and execute oral and written instructions and to interpret technical manuals and specifications

Language: speak, read and write English

Previous experience working in harsh Arctic temperatures an asset
