The Parts & Operational Support Hand will be responsible for safely and efficiently supporting the various operations of Gibbons Motor Toys. This will include assisting with all Parts Department operations including counter sales, service department repair order requirements, and support to the Sales Department, as well as assisting the Operations Assistant in managing the upkeep of the shop and yard. Daily work will be executed closely with the overall operation of Gibbons Motor Toys’ to help keep business running smoothly by maintaining high productivity and organization.
Key responsibilities include receiving and logging parts and products as necessary, product packaging, scheduling shipments, maintaining showroom displays, maintaining yard appearance including washing boats and picking up debris, cleaning the shop, preparing units for service, full unit detailing, loading and unloading customer units, and helping to maintain a safe work environment for everyone. This position provides strong support to the Parts, Service, and Sales Departments wherever needed to help them achieve their targets and objectives. It requires a high level of ownership, accountability, and initiative. There is also potential for advancement for someone who shows ability and desire for powersports and marine service repair.
Key Responsibilities
Customer Service and Department Support
- Create a solid first impression and commitment to GMT’s superior customer service by acknowledging all customers in a prompt and professional manner
- Maintain strong, long-term relationships that ensure customers return, and help strengthen the customer experience by quickly providing knowledgeable information to address each ongoing need, regardless of communication method including telephone, walk in, and internet enquiries
- Effectively handle customer complaints and concerns calmly and confidently while upholding GMT’s high standards in customer service and satisfaction
- Keep retail space at the highest standard by performing daily routine housekeeping to ensure parts displays remain tidy and full, are well organized, and portray a positive retail environment
- Assist in merchandising displays with current, high demand products
- Prepare new units for delivery by washing, inspecting, and parking in delivery location
- Provide support to customers in loading / unloading and hooking up units
- Take pictures as directed to accurately record condition of unit when coming in for service
- Prepare units for service by draining water/removing snow from boat covers, ATV’s, and SSV’s
- Full unit detailing and parking of ATVs and SSVs when directed
- Assist in unloading and loading incoming and outgoing shipments
Parts Department Operations and Inventory Management
- Assist in processing and recording parts sales and other parts counter transactions accurately, including updating customer records and invoicing
- Handle all receiving and shipping of parts and packages in a timely fashion - all incoming and outgoing orders should be completely processed the same day
- Pass off any special order or service parts to the Parts Advisor to handle
- Verify receiving documents and report any shortages to the Parts Manager
- Store all products in their correct specified locations and maintain an orderly Parts Department
- Maintain a clean work area and promptly discard scrap materials, packaging and used parts
- Assist in dealing with all returns in a timely fashion as per manufacturer's / distributor's policies
- Ensure all required parts are binned and labelled for every work order
- Provide accurate physical counts of all inventory as required, notifying others of discrepancies
- Perform other tasks as required by Parts Manager and Parts Advisor
Yard, Shop, and Building Maintenance
- Maintain yard appearance and organization by following direction on strategically parking units for optimal marketability, picking up litter and debris, plowing snow, dragging gravel, etc.
- Perform regular boat cleanup to ensure product for sale is professionally displayed
- Provide support to maintaining an orderly shop including performing daily shop cleanup and recognizing and limiting safety hazards and inefficiencies
- Perform maintenance on equipment as directed and log all service records as necessary
- Assist with shop / showroom upgrades and maintenance where required
- Other building maintenance and general labour duties as required
Safety & Process Improvements
- Follow all safety protocols as per GMT’s Occupational Health & Safety program
- Effectively assist with implementing and supporting improvements to parts & service processes and cost reduction in the inventory management
- Complete all BRP / Mercury training as required, as well as any other parts-related training that Management sees as beneficial to provide the highest standard of customer service
- Strive to continuously increase product knowledge and remain up to date on all new products related to the marine and powersports industry
- Continuously demonstrate an interest in growing the parts business

Work Schedule
- Store hours are 8:30am to 6:00pm Monday to Friday and 9:00am to 2:00pm Saturdays
- Must be available Monday to Saturday, 30 to 40 hours per week
- Exact schedule to be determined with Parts Manager and Operations Assistant based on business needs
- Must display reliable attendance and schedule time-off with advance notice and approval, taking into consideration busy times
- Closed on all long weekends
Requirements
Educational and experience requirements include:
- Above-average computer skills, highly accurate with attention to detail
- Prior experience in shipping / receiving, parts inventory management, or yard / shop operations is considered an asset
- Knowledge of equipment safety and procedures
- Proven ability to take direction from superiors and follow written and verbal instruction
- Demonstrated ability to maintain organization and consistently meet work schedules and customer deadlines
- Ability to meet all physical requirements of the job including lifting 50 lbs
- Basic math and problem-solving skills
- Reliable, punctual and a self-starter with strong work ethic
- Proven experience in parking trailers and operating forklifts is considered an asset
