Senior Tax Manager
The position is a corporate role. The right person will have experience with strong mix varying from designing tax strategy, managing international tax, execution of planning, ensuring compliance, facilitating accounting and operational tax matters. These responsibilities will be fulfilled through building relationships, managing third-party consultants, nurturing, and leading global inhouse tax team, and acting as trusted advisor for senior leadership.
Job Description
- Assist senior management with the development, management, and the implementation of tax strategies.
- Increase corporate awareness of tax risks and compliance issues through corporate education and review of key business activities and agreements.
- Develop and maintain relationships locally and globally with tax consultants and advisors.
- Manage preparation of quarterly, annual tax provision and public financials disclosure matters.
- Oversee tax related internal controls and accounting policies and procedures to ensure compliance with requirements of local tax authorities, and operational efficiency.
- Monitor changes in tax rules and global practices, tax code and related rulings for developments that effect the Company’s tax compliance, strategy, and accounting.
- Manage Canadian and International tax compliance for 17 countries globally including the USA, Mexico, France, Germany, Spain, China with support from local tax managers and advisors.
- Assist with the preparation of budgets and forecasts for various domestic and international tax expenses, tax department cost.
- Provide both technical and project management leadership for tax impact from Transfer Pricing projects, M&A, or other special assignments.
- Support business units across the globe by responding to tax specific queries.
- Work closely with corporate treasury in cash repatriation and financing strategies.
- Actively mentor and coach team members to their highest potential
- Create a learning environment through leadership.
Credentials
- Certified/Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA/CA) designation.
- Completion of the CPA Canada In-depth Tax course Or Master of Taxation could also be an asset.
- Minimum 5 years of multinational corporate income tax experience, including a good working knowledge of Canada’s tax rules on foreign affiliates, scientific research and experimental development, transfer pricing, and profit repatriation issues.
- Thorough understanding of tax accounting under IFRS and experience working on multi-national public company tax provisions.
- Broad international tax experience in such countries as the USA, Mexico, France, Germany, Spain, China, is an asset.
- Experience in managing the tax component for M&A’s, Working knowledge of OECD BEPS Pillar One & Two.”
- Industry experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
