Role : Senior Systems Analyst - REMOTE - AS400

The primary role of this position is to manage and complete large, complex project for various departments. These projects always involve analyzing business requirements, and installing/maintaining/writing software to meet these business needs. Projects will usually require extensive hospital process knowledge combined with excellent technical skills. The incumbent will act as a “consultant” to the business.
The incumbent is expected to work independently on projects, but frequently works closely with other IS staff and external consultants to complete large projects.
The incumbent provides technical leadership to junior staff. This may include assigning and monitoring junior work, acting as a technical resource on complex problems, or supporting other day to day activities. The incumbent does not have direct management responsibility for junior staff.
§Plans, manages, and executes large sized technical projects; acts as the lead IS expert.
§Acts as project manager for assigned projects: working with a team of business managers; establishes project objectives, defines solutions, develops project plans and schedules, coordinates project tasks, and manages team meetings.
§Writes, maintains, and installs computer applications to meet the defined requirements.
§Creates and maintains appropriate technical user documentation.
§Provides on-going support to the users of applications; trains users as necessary.
Takes budgetary recommendations to Director of IS.
§ Analyze system requests and define the scope of the request.
§ Define the length of request/project by phases with emphasis on implementation; programming, training, and post implementation follow up.
§ Responsible for insuring design meets requirement listings and falls within scope of request and that the team signs off on any design work.
Request and coordinate necessary resources to accomplish the request.
§ Work as an equal member of the I/S team.
§ Provide support to the help desk with necessary. This will normally be a second level problem analysis/resolution.
§ Assist in developing I/S standards and security processes.
§ Develop and implement cross training between team members to ensure support of critical job functions. Participate in team building activities including meetings and education.
Support training of junior staff.
Skills:
§Excellent technical knowledge of software/Database Systems. Preference to DB2, MS, SQL, Progress. AS400
§Business knowledge: general business knowledge (e.g. accounting system, HR, payroll, inventory) and excellent knowledge of hospital/health care business.
§Project Management skills. Experience in complex projects.
§Excellent programming skills: SQL, RPG, Interface programming tools, Showcase, end user reporting tools, MS Office.
§Some knowledge of Visual Basic, network support applications, Windows and Microsoft/Novell networking.
§Exposure the various industry applications.
§Excellent organizational skills, excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to use own initiative.
