As a Sweet Server, you will play a vital role in upholding this philosophy, enhancing our guests' dining experience by providing exceptional service. Your primary responsibility will be to assist patrons in selecting, serving, and delivering a variety of delectable beverages, desserts, and savoury items. You will work closely with the heart-of-house culinary team and front-of-house teams to ensure a seamless and memorable dining experience for our guests.
What you will be doing (Responsibilities):
- Greet customers with a warm and friendly demeanour, providing an exceptional first impression.
- Demonstrate creativity, personal commitment to service excellence and an emotional sense of gracious hospitality.
- Assist customers in making informed decisions by providing detailed explanations of available options, including ingredients, flavours, and pairings.
- Take orders accurately and efficiently, considering dietary restrictions, preferences, and special requests.
- Maintain quality and timeliness of service and practice effective up-selling and suggestive selling techniques to drive outlet revenue.
- Monitor table turnover and maintain awareness of the dining room's flow to provide efficient service to all customers.
- Handling guest concerns swiftly and graciously, offering a remarkable recovery and a commitment to always improve.
- Remove soiled dishes, linen, and silverware and restore/replenish the table settings.
- Setting furniture and dining room in a consistent, clean, and inviting way.
- Adheres to safety, sanitation and cleaning policies when handling food and beverages.
- Ensuring service essentials, quality and service standards are met throughout the guest experience, from arrival to departure.
- Stay updated on current menu changes, seasonal offerings, and promotions to provide relevant information to guests.
- Work as a team player, supporting colleagues during service to ensure a consistent guest experience throughout the restaurant, including running food, refreshing beverages, cleaning and resetting tables.
- Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance your knowledge and skills.
- Following clear and concise instructions. Other duties as assigned.
What you will bring (Requirement):
- Experience – Minimum two (2) years recent (in the last five years) experience as a server in an “a la carte” dining setting in an upscale, high volume restaurant OR a combination of two (2) years as a Junior Server, expeditor or equivalent AND one (1) year recent (in the last five years) experience as a server in an “a la carte” dining setting in an upscale, high volume restaurant.
- Functional knowledge – Passion for food and strives to exceed expectations for service excellence with a demonstrated understanding of fine dining, beverage and service standards commensurate with upscale restaurants.
- Customer Service Excellence – Exceptional service style, genuinely warm presence, friendly, sincere nature, drive for service excellence, internally proud, outwardly gracious and humble.
- Internal Service – an appreciation that ‘internal customers’ (i.e. Cooks) are considered strategic partners.
- Communication – Excellent communication and social skills, 100% fluency in English with impeccable standards of hygiene and grooming.
- Safety Focus – Demonstrates safe work practices and looks for ways to minimize workplace injuries.
- Decision making – Able to prioritize, making prompt and reasonable decisions.
- Problem solving – Adept at juggling multiple needs, calmly, respectfully, creatively and successfully resolve problems, as required.
- Emotional maturity – Interacts with others in a respectful manner, with demonstrated qualities of sincerity, helpfulness, courtesy and humility.
- Ethical and professional conduct – Fulfills responsibilities with the highest integrity.
- Technology proficiency – Operates and maintains all departmental equipment, fully competent with POS.
- Physical Aspect – Ability to carry and serve three plates simultaneously, lift and transport items weighing over 40 pounds, and stand on their feet for eight hours or more.
- Flexibility – Ability to work a schedule that varies and includes rotating shifts, weekends, holidays, evenings, and shifts that end at 02:00 AM.
- Work Authorization – Must be legally eligible to work in Canada. D Spot is unable to assist candidates in obtaining Canadian work authorization.
