This position reports directly to the EWP Sales Manager and works closely with all Goodfellow associates, vendor representatives and customers in the servicing and promotion of designated engineered wood products including I-Joists, LVL, PSL, LSL, glulam beams, connectors, premium OSB and other products as assigned. The primary objectives of the EWP Technical Sales person is to develop, grow and maintain customer relationships within a defined sales territory.
This person will have a solid understanding of residential and light commercial construction practises with specific strengths in structural wood products. The ideal candidate will also have a working knowledge of the Ontario Building Code and above average computer skills.
The EWP Technical Salesperson is an integral member of the EWP sales team who must interact effectively with customers, vendors and other Goodfellow colleagues while performing a variety of duties. Those duties include but are not limited to dealer and job site visits, product demonstrations, addressing competitive issues, preparing quotations and order processing. He/she is also a regular contributor to the EWP sales team on the implementation of sales objectives and strategies, promotions and customer procurement.
This position requires a highly organized individual with exceptional communication skills who can manage a variety of tasks in a timely fashion. The following is a list of roles and responsibilities inherent to this position:
· Prospect for new customer and product opportunities and implement proven sales strategies
· Make regular (daily) outgoing sales calls to fill daily route run trucks, solicit weekly product specials, follow-up on quotations
· Primary contact for customer inquiries relating to any EWP related topic including stock availability, unit pricing, shipping schedules, etc.
· Assist inside sales personal with EWP order entry functions, coordination of job-site deliveries, builder cut sheets and delivery dates as required.
· Develop and manage solid customer and business relationships
· Preparation of quotations for projects designed by the technical design group
· Develop and maintain above average knowledge of Epicor sales, inventory and customer information systems
· Develop a working understanding of EWP proprietary design software programs
· Develop and manage effective 2 way communications with the shipping and receiving group
