Salary: $49,528-$55,749 per annum + benefits based on work experience (Includes MCCSS wage enhancement)

About the role:
The Program Facilitator is a core team member at the Red Maple Supportive Residence, supporting individuals in service with their recovery and reintegration through the delivery of targeted interventions, workshops and programs. The Red Maple Supportive Residence is a specialized transitional housing program, known as the Justice Transition Home (JTH), that supports individuals with developmental disabilities and complex needs (including dual diagnosis, concurrent disorders, and behavioural challenges) who are transitioning from provincial institutions and correctional facilities back into the community. The JTH bridges a gap in service by providing immediate housing, support and service to eligible individuals being released from correctional facilities without any other accommodation options and in need of intensive supports. The program provides temporary accommodations with intensive 24/7 supports, supervision and specialized clinical services. It aims to break the cycles of re-occurring high-risk, problematic and offending behaviours and reincarceration among the target client population by providing targeted interventions/programs, supports with ADL/IADLs, skill development and linkage with community supports and services.
As a Program Facilitator you are responsible for delivering evidenced based, rehabilitative, psycho-social programs to the individuals in service at the Red Maple Supportive Residence in both group and 1:1 format. You will collaborate with the Clinical Supervisor and Residential Coordinator in developing and implementing the program curriculum, collect and analyze group and program statistics, and complete program reports. As a Program Facilitator you are responsible for helping program participants identify and develop positive skills and strategies that address their targeted risk factors and personal goals. You will identify the priority learning objectives, personal targets and responsivity needs of program participant and provide a safe, supportive, engaging and positive learning environment that fosters inclusiveness, promotes skill and knowledge development, promotes self-efficacy, increased independence and promotes healthy choices and behaviours.
As a Program Facilitator you will be a part of a multi-disciplinary and intensive support team that includes clinical discipline services from Royal Ottawa’s FACTT-DD team and complex supports from the Community Networks of Specialized Care (CNSC), all working together to support individuals on their recovery journey and transition to more meaningful, pro-social and independent life.
As the successful candidate, you have:
Required Education & Background:
-
A degree or diploma in a relevant social service field (ex. Psychology, Criminology, Social work, Social Service Worker, Community Justice Worker, Developmental Service Worker, etc.; equivalency may be considered)

Training and familiarity with structured program curriculums, frameworks, approaches and models (ex: CBT, DBT, Skills System, Circles, Zones of Regulation, De Bono Thinking Hats, Life Skills, etc.)

A recent clear Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC)
Preferred Experience:
-
Minimum Two (2) years of experience in delivering specialized workshops and programs to individuals with, developmental disabilities, mental health challenges, substance use and homelessness.

Minimum Two (2) years of experience working in a residential setting and ability to adapt to shifting priorities.
-
Minimum Two (2) years of experience facilitating group workshops and programs and demonstrated strong ability to manage group dynamics.
Preferred Knowledge and Skills:

A passion and positive attitude for working with individuals with complex backgrounds and high support needs.

A strong understanding of human behaviour and behaviour change

A strong understanding of criminogenic risk factors and the link between risk assessment and risk management.

A strong understanding the recovery model and principles of recovery.

Demonstrated understanding and ability to implement motivational interviewing techniques and principles.

Keen observation skills and ability identify changes in behaviour, mood, well-being and skill level.

Excellent communication skills and ability to relay information concisely, accurately and appropriately to the target audience.

Excellent problem solving and decision-making skills.

Proven ability to effectively manage and de-escalate crisis; including verbal aggression, physical aggression/violence, property destruction and self-injurious behaviour.

Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build strong therapeutic rapport with clients and professional relationships with colleagues.

A proven ability to create safe, positive and inclusive spaces for vulnerable individuals

A willingness to work in collaboration with a wide variety of community partners, agencies, and emergency services.
