Operationalize and implement corporate OHS strategy.

Field level engagement with managers, supervisors and team members.

Assist in the development and maintenance of the Occupational Health and Safety Program.

Provide leadership, mentoring and direction to managers, supervisors and team members in safety and incident prevention activities.

Ensure Occupational Health and Safety roles and responsibilities are clearly defined, understood and acted upon by managers, supervisors, Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committee members and all team members.

Ensure that regular inspections, hazard analysis, risk assessments and audits are conducted.

Lead incident investigation and facilitate cause analysis.

Ensure an adequate corrective action process is applied to inspections, incident investigations, trend analysis and internal audits.

Produce reports and statistical information, analyze trends and present findings and/or recommendations to internal and external stakeholders.

Conduct, facilitate and coordinate training sessions for management, supervisors, team members, Joint OHS Committee members and new hires on Occupational Health and Safety practices, legislation and industry changes.

Monitor changing regulations that affect the company; help structure/implement processes to address the changes.
As a member of the Sutherland Group team, we expect you bring the following to the table:
- Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in OHS roles within heavy industry or transportation.

Understanding of or experience in the Transportation or Forestry industries is an asset.

Formal OHS Education is required, ideally a Certificate or Diploma.

CRSP is preferred.

Must possess exceptional verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to confidently represent the company at events, make presentations and speak to groups.

Considerable tact and discretion required when dealing with team members, managers and external enforcement authorities.

Proven experience in technical writing, process and procedure development.

Excellent organizational, planning and management skills.

Strong interpersonal leadership skills with a critical thinking mindset..

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.

Must maintain a valid Class 5 driver's license and the ability to travel to the USA.
