Location: Gene Zwozdesky Centre at Norwood
Performs the primary functions of complete and accurate respiratory assessment of assigned residents through treatment of cardio-respiratory disease and conditions by utilizing clinical competencies in all aspects of respiratory care, in a timely and safe manner in cooperation with the interdisciplinary team. Assists in the development of care plans and implements direct resident care and follow-up, ensuring that care meets organizational and national/provincial professional standards. Operates, maintains and manages all supplies and equipment in a safe manner. Assists in the training of students, orientation of new staff and education of other professionals. Follows infection control measures. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Education:
- Graduate of recognized school of Respiratory Therapy accredited by either the Council on Accreditation for Respiratory Therapy Education (CoARTE) or conjoint Committee of the Canadian Medical Association (CMA) is required
- Successful completion of the National Respiratory Therapy Certification Exam as administered by the College and Association of Respiratory therapy of Alberta (CARTA) or the Canadian Society of Respiratory Therapy (CSRT), or equivalent is required
- Registration with CARTA is required
- Current basic life support (BLS) training is required
- Current advanced life support certification specific to the Registered Respiratory Therapist’s role is preferred.
Experience:
- Two to three years’ experience as a Respiratory Therapist
- Experience in providing care in a continuing care setting is preferred

- Must be mentally and physically fit to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position
- Demonstrates an awareness of accident and injury prevention; adheres to safe work practices and procedures; and is responsible for maintaining self-wellness and reduced absenteeism

Pay: $38.39-$49.34 per hour
