Moosonee Transportation Ltd is looking for a 1 to 2 year Apprentice Mechanic to assist in managing a large fleet of equipment. Our fuel, yard, barge and warehouse operations will provide year round work for the successful candidate. During the summer months, our Tug and Barge operation is the lifeline to the coastal communities along the east and west shores of the James Bay and Hudson Bay, delivering fuel, food, equipment and building materials. During the winter months, we haul similar goods to some of the communities via winter road.

- Maintain the servicing of vehicles, trucks, trailers and heavy equipement
- Ability to troubleshoot and inspect equipment to detect faults and malfunctions
- Collaborate with senior mechanics to learn new skills and techniques
- Keep accurate records of maintenance and repair work performed
- Follow instructions, both written and verbal
- Team player
- Good communication skills and attention to detail
- Other duties as assigned
- Minimum 2 years experience working on gas and diesel engines. Experience with hydraulic maintenance and repair is an asset.
- Welding experience is an asset
- Adhere to company policies and procedures regarding safety and quality standards
- Valid drivers license required
- Ability to operate heavy equipment would be considered an asset
- Company benefits after 3 month probation period
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: $24.00-$26.00 per hour
