We are a commercial carrier that runs general freight. We service the Westlock, Barrhead, and Edmonton areas and have depots in those locations.
We are looking for a full-time evening dock supervisor for the Edmonton Depot. We are looking for someone who is hard-working and reliable to oversee all inbound freight and outbound freight, carefully load and secure cargo on outbound trailers going to Westlock and Barrhead by matching freight to bills. The position will consist of assisting drivers get loaded and off loaded, loading freight from 2 other nearby depots and load up the nightly trailers. It is a physically demanding position in a fast-paced environment moving lots of freight, attention to detail and multi-tasking while following all safety protocols are crucial skills to this position. Must be able to work independently and have initiative. The successful candidate will receive benefits after 4 months.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Load and Offload freight
- Cube inbound freight and mark local, Westlock, and Barrhead freight
- Operate Loading Equipment safely with forklift and pallet jack
- Secure Materials in trucks
- Assist loading flat decks
- Maintain Loading and Unloading Records
- Communicating with office personnel and drivers
- picking - Safely handle and stack products to minimize damage and maximize space utilization
- - Perform regular inspections of equipment and report any maintenance or repair needs
- - Follow all safety protocols and regulations to maintain a safe work environment
- Complete other duties that are reasonably assigned
Skills and Qualifications
- Strong attention to detail
- Able to Multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment
- Physical strength –able to lift and carry heavy loads and safely place them on trucks
- Stamina
- Safety focus –extensive familiarity with safety protocols and best practices
- Certified to operate forklifts
- Have a driving license with clean abstract
- Must be Bondable
