The Waypoint Research Institute (WRI) is currently seeking one (1) full time Research Analyst for a year (October 2023 to September 2024). The successful incumbent will work with the WRI to support an evidence synthesis service to address pressing questions in mental health and addictions for the province of Ontario. This service provides a menu of knowledge products and activities to support the use of evidence and data in decision making and provide a flexible and dynamic response to the evidence needs of policy and implementation stakeholders. The position will involve two separate but connected activities: 1) knowledge synthesis activities including conducting systematic searches of the literature and data extraction; and, 2 knowledge translation activities, including the preparation of knowledge products and supporting knowledge translation events and will contribute to a mental health and addictions learning health system.This position supports either an in-person, hybrid or fully remote arrangement.
Located at Waypoint Centre for Mental Health Care in Penetanguishene, Ontario, the WRI contributes to the field of mental health by providing strategic leadership on research and academic issues; facilitating innovating science and high quality applied research that aligns with Waypoint priorities; fostering partnerships and research collaborations across Ontario, in Canada and internationally; prioritizing knowledge translation that improves mental health and addictions care; and offering mentorship opportunities for students and trainees in a unique facility.
Please Note: This position offers a hybrid work environment consisting of in-office and remote work. Office location is 500 Church St in Penetanguishene, ON
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Collaborate with research team/ librarian

Conduct literature searches and reviews and extract data
- Participate in outreach to stakeholders and knowledge users

Develop knowledge products tailored to a non-academic audience

Participate in project meetings

Maintain a log of all research activities
REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:
-
Bachelor’s level degree (completed or pending) in a health policy, political science, health science social science, or behavioural/life science field with relevant post-degree research training preferred

Demonstrated experience in conducting or reviewing studies with qualitative and quantitative research methods and analysis. Prior experience with systematic reviews / meta-analyses would be a cardinal asset (in the absence of formal training in meta-analysis, this will be offered to the successful candidate).
- Demonstrated experience writing in clear language and translating research evidence into knowledge products and tools for non-academic audiences

Experience in research with a record of achievement in scholarly work (presentations, completed research projects in work or senior undergraduate/graduate setting)
- TCPS2 Certification preferred
