Lacombe Fire provides a wide range of services to the residents of the City of Lacombe and a portion of Lacombe County. Within the fire district we have world scale industrial complexes, intensive livestock operations and a section of the busiest primary highway in Alberta. We are a department that is proud of our past accomplishments but one that seeks continuous improvement in the future delivery of services to our customers. In partnership, the City of Lacombe and Lacombe County are jointly seeking a Fire Chief and a Director of Emergency Management exclusively for the City of Lacombe.
This position ensures the delivery of quality fire protection, rescue, prevention, and inspection services for the community. The Fire Chief ensures that the activities of the Lacombe Fire Department are aligned with the corporate and departmental vision, goals, and objectives for the City of Lacombe and for Lacombe County.
This role requires a broad combination of strategic leadership and active involvement in the day-to-day operations of the department such as: assessing the potential fire hazards, anticipating emergency risks, as well as ensuring the firefighting team can carry out the necessary tasks within the geographic makeup and budget limitations of the City and County.
As a strategic thinker and senior leader, the successful candidate will be able to identify and respond to opportunities and challenges. You will have a proven record of accomplishment in budgeting, leading a dynamic work force, and policy development. Your effective communication and collaboration skills with multiple stakeholders, including Councils, the public and mutual aid communities; builds strong relationships in the delivery of a successful Fire Protection Service between the City of Lacombe and Lacombe County.
Drawing on your experience you will provide creative and practical ideas, tools and solutions that will generate a departmental environment of inclusion, accountability, and customer service.
Requirements:
- Post-secondary education in Fire Service Management, Business Administration or Public Administration
- NFPA 1001, 1002, 1021, 1031, 1033, 1041, 1051, 472
- ICS 400
- Class 3 Driver's License with Q endorsement
- Alberta Fire Safety Codes Officer – Group B Level 2 preferred
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive leadership experience
- 7 years’ firefighter experience
- Volunteer or paid on call experience considered an asset

Salary Range: $115,255 - $144,069 per annum (based on 37.50 hour work week)
