VIA Rail Canada Inc., Canada's national passenger rail service, is currently seeking candidates to fill 1 Diesel Engine Mechanic position, to work at it's Winnipeg Maintenance Center in Manitoba.
As a Diesel Engine Mechanic, you will carry out preventive maintenance and running repairs on locomotives and rolling stock. Utilizing your skills and Via Rail Standards, maintenance manuals and tools, determine the causes of mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic defects on the locomotives and perform the repair. You will also conduct inspections and maintenance on the locomotives in compliance with VIA’s preventive maintenance program in order to continually surpass Transport Canada’s standards.
The position is permanent (40 hours per week) and the work schedule may vary (day, evening, night, week-end and holidays). Shifts may start as early as 7:00 am and end as late as 3:00 am. The Maintenance center is closed friday and Saturday,
Hourly salary: $36.06/h and $42.45/h depending on experience
Evening shift differential: $1.5/H
Night shift differential: $2.00/H
