OVERVIEW
Vertex is currently accepting applications for a Procurement Administrator in Sherwood Park, AB. The successful candidate must ensure timely and cost-effective acquisition of materials, equipment and services for Vertex. This role will also be responsible for management of quoting and sourcing raw materials, escalation management when required, cost reduction and management of key supplier relationships.
CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS

1-2 years’ experience working in a purchasing/procurement role
- Diploma and/or certificate in Business Administration, Finance, or Supply Chain Management is an asset
- Solid knowledge of vendor sourcing practices (researching, evaluating and liaising with vendors)
- Strong communication, negotiation and customer services skills are essential
- Able to build and maintain lasting relationships with corporate departments and key business partners
- Excellent time management and organizational skills
- Ability to effectively start and complete multiple tasks
- Detail oriented and committed to accuracy
- Physically able to organize/stock a supply room and lift supplies weighing 5 to 10 lbs
- Intermediate to Advanced Microsoft Office skills (specifically Word and Excel)
- Class 5 Drivers Licence
RESPONSIBILITIES

Oversees vendor approval and reviews
- Responsible for all activities related to procurement and purchasing of material, equipment and services and control of inventories
- Organize, stock and distribute supplies
- Processes all required purchasing paperwork
- Experience working with ERP systems is an asset
- Issues requests for quotation/proposal for standing offer agreements, evaluates submissions, makes recommendations for award, negotiates terms and conditions, supervises implementation and manages agreements once they are in place
- Effective use of historical and other bench-marking data to ensure competitive pricing
- Provides concise and accurate administration/preparation of purchase orders and/or other required documents involved with the procurement process
- Issues purchase orders based on the receipt of properly documented and approved purchase requisitions
- Consolidate pricing with vendors
- Liaises with the required department regarding terms and conditions of contracts
- Keeps up to date with new supply sources
- Assists in the implementation and management of strategic purchasing initiatives
- Ensures orders are meeting specified deadlines and paperwork from vendors is complete and correct
- Prepare reports on purchases, including cost analyses
- Evaluates and advises Management of any serious ongoing issues with vendors
- Establishes on time deliveries to meet production and sales requirements
- Monitors market conditions and the effect on the company’s ability to secure inventory and actively pursue cost reduction programs and contract agreements
- Actively pursues cost reduction programs and contract agreements
- Conducts vendor reviews
- Addresses concerns with suppliers and escalates as required
- Complies with the quality program, policies, procedures and good business practices
