JOB SUMMARY:
Responsible for maintaining the day-to-day performance and long-term stability of Manufacturing Test Equipment (manual, semi-automated, automated). This individual will have superior problem solving and technical skills, as well as independent decision-making ability.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for keeping Test Equipment operational, coordinating and/or carrying out preventative maintenance services and troubleshooting/repairing Test Equipment in the event of failure
- Coordinate internal and external preventive maintenance activities on manufacturing test equipment
- Coordinate calibration of all test equipment, maintain Test Equipment Database and borrow out equipment as required
- Maintain inventory of Test Equipment spare parts. This includes quoting, ordering and tracking new equipment and components
- Implement and perform preventative maintenance of Test Equipment. This includes inspecting test stations, maintaining aging equipment and identifying risks from a hardware perspective
- Coordination/execution of upgrading Test Equipment (Coordinating external suppliers, drafting statements of work)
- Participate in the planning and execution of Test Equipment upgrades
- Validation of drawing and schematic integrity, including submission of recommendations for documentation and/or process corrections through interface with Engineering, Process Specialists and the Test Lab Supervisor
- Fabrication, maintenance, repair and calibration of test sets and other equipment in accordance with associated documentation
- Investigate equipment requirements, recommend capital acquisitions for replacement, prepare expenditure requests, assist Procurement and/or the Test Lab Supervisor with sourcing, and the creation of CAPEX documentation in support of proposal(s)
- Work with Process, Test and Engineering teams to identify improvement opportunities
- Additional duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Degree/Diploma in Electronics/Mechatronics Engineering Technician/Technologist or equivalent
- Ability to read and interpret equipment drawings and schematics
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, organizational, computer, coaching and facilitation skills
- Solid decision making, leadership ability, and a desire to utilize professional knowledge and share ideas
- Ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast paced team environment, support other team members, and liaise with other departments when necessary
- Experience with the use of electronic test equipment (ex. oscilloscopes, multimeters, logic analyzers, function generators, etc.)
- Good soldering skills. Fine pitch soldering an asset
- Experience with the fabrication and repair of cable harnesses preferred
- Hands-on maintenance knowledge and experience
- Ability to analyze AC/DC circuits and perform component level troubleshooting
- Knowledge of CAD software and 3D printing an asset
- Fundamental programming knowledge (Python, C++, LabVIEW)
- Good Excel, Word and E-Mail skills
- Preference given to qualified candidates with a demonstrated interest in electronics and/or programming as a hobby
