The Finance Clerk, reporting to the Manager of Finance is required to acquire and maintain appropriate knowledge of Society operations necessary to record and maintain timely and accurate information in both the Society’s Child in Care database system and Accounting system. In this capacity the responsibilities include:
- Processing identity document applications, name changes, transfers, letters to guardians and adoptive parents, and the placement of classified advertisements to ensure efficient and effective administration of these accounts;
- Communicating regularly with Canada Revenue Agency, Service Ontario, medical offices, care providers, and others, and by completing all necessary applications to ensure each child in care has appropriate benefits coverage (i.e. health insurance, special allowances, pensions, etc.);
- Tracking, logging and recording location, legal status, and other information in the Society’s child in care database;
- Maintaining the Society’s Accounts Receivable records, including ensuring timely collections;
- Filing;
- Assisting with Accounts Payable processing; and
- Performing the accounting reconciliations necessary to ensure accurate accounting records.
Qualifications:
- Community College Diploma in accounting or related field;
- Two years related experience in computerized accounting or data entry environment;
- Experience working with Accounting software;
- Sound knowledge and demonstrated skills in word processing and computer applications;
- Good judgment, strong interpersonal, organizational and time management skills;
- Superior oral and written communication skills in English is required; and
- Bilingualism would be considered an asset.
