Job Description
AECOM is seeking a Quality Assurance Inspector C.E.T. to be based in Markham or Mississauga, ON.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
+ Supervise Quality Assurance testing and inspect structures, grading, granular, concrete, asphalt, electrical and all other construction activities.
+ Monitor the contractor's work for compliance with plans, standards and specifications prior to approving work and progress payments.
+ Identify and document construction and/or QC deficiencies (from applicable contract/standard specifications)
+ Resolve routine technical and administrative problems on a day-to-day basis and refer problems to Senior Inspectors and / or the Contract Administrator as necessary.
+ Collect and analyze data under the supervision of an experienced engineer.
+ Review contractor schedule and productivity against contractor's baseline schedule.
+ Review on-site changes and provide analysis of the change to the Contract Administrator / design engineer
+ Maintain liaison with client staff, contractor representatives, property owners and general public during construction to resolve problems.
+ Assist the field office staff (Contract Administrator and Assistant, Office Administrator) in the verification and documentation of payment quantities.
+ Maintain Inspector's Diaries, detailing contractor's work, contract progress and inspection milestones.
+ Review the acquisition and use of materials from approved sources only.
+ Review contractor’s application of and compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, adheres to WHMIS, environmental, Transportation of Dangerous Goods and Waste Management requirements.
+ Become trained in, and use a Nuclear Density Gauge for compaction testing Transport material samples from project site to area laboratory.
+ Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job.
+ Responsible for monitoring conformance to quality, performance, specifications, and/or code requirements by performing inspection duties.
+ Performs daily field inspections and maintains inspection records.
+ Participates in punch lists, testing, and commissioning.
+ Tracks quality assurance progress.
+ Provides input to documentation for area and equipment turnovers.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements :
+ College graduate with Civil Engineering Technology diploma
+ Must possess a valid driver's license
Preferred Qualifications :
+ Effective oral and written communication skills
+ Ability to prioritize, multi-task and work during either daytime and nighttime shifts, including weekends
+ Use of personal vehicle for travel to / from project
