Purpose
Reporting to the Marketing and Communications Manager, the Volunteer and Relationships Coordinator is responsible for the volunteer and media and government relationships engagement.
Key Responsibilities
Volunteers recruitment and engagement
- Work closely with the supervisor and Drop-In ESL/Volunteer Program manager on updating volunteer policies, rules and procedures regularly and as needed
- Coordinate with different programs and departments and recruit volunteers based on the needs of the Society and different programs and departments
- Onboard volunteers according to the Society’s volunteer policies, rules and procedures
- Organize and facilitate volunteer training based on the their roles
- Oversee volunteer activities within an organization
- Maintain accurate volunteer records, track volunteer hours, and conduct volunteer evaluations
- Appreciate volunteers
- Create and work with a pool of volunteers for different purposes including for Society’s events, functions, promotions, fundraisers, etc.
Relationships engagement
Work with Marketing and Communications Manager to reach out to local media to cover various organization’s functions and events
Assist the Marketing and Communications Manager to establish and maintain long-term relationship with local media so TIES will become their resources of newcomer and other vulnerable population stories
Reach out to political leaders for their presence and participation of the organization activities
Assist the Marketing and Communications Manager to establish relationship with political leaders for the advocacy of the organization’s services
Perform other job related duties as requested by the supervisor

Education and Experience
The successful candidate will have a bachelor degree in media relations, public relations, communications, marketing or an equivalent combination of certification and experience. At least two years of experience working in an office setting is required.
