Job Description:
As a Systems Engineer, your expertise plays a pivotal role in the successful execution of our client-related projects and assignments. Your key responsibilities encompass tasks such as addressing and resolving support tickets, including those that are a tier 3 or emergency escalation, facilitating the onboarding process for new clients, and meticulously managing and revising project plans. This position calls for a proactive and resourceful individual who consistently meets deadlines and demonstrates innovative thinking.
Responsibilities:
- Creation and resolution of support tickets, including tier 3 and emergency escalation.
- Execute, plan and document onboarding projects.
- Other various IT improvement projects. (On-premise migration to the cloud, server and network equipment upgrades, etc.)
- Collaborate closely with the Service Desk and the executive team to meet clients' needs.
- Ensure effective communication and documentation of on-site issues.
- Meet deadlines, adhere to budgets, and prioritize client satisfaction.
- Contribute innovative ideas to team meetings and client projects.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of three years of experience with VMware AND HyperV.
- Minimum of three years of experience with Microsoft Exchange Server (Migration & troubleshooting experience preferred).
- Minimum of six years of experience with Microsoft Server 2003 and higher.
- Minimum of three years of experience with managed switches.
- Minimum of two years of experience with managed firewalls.
- Professional IT Certifications, such as Microsoft MCP, MCSA, or MCSE, Cisco CCNA, or VMware VCP.
Interpersonal Skills:
- Strong written and spoken English, including telephony, communication, active listening, and customer care.
- Ability to think creatively.
- Technical Awareness:
- Strong "on-the-fly" diagnostic abilities and the ability to allocate resources to technical issues appropriately.
- Service awareness of all critical IT services provided by the organization.
- Understanding of support tools (e.g., RMM and PSA) and techniques for delivering IT services.
Shift and Schedule:
- Monday to Friday
- Weekends as needed
- Week-long on-call rotation every three weeks
Additional Requirements:
A valid driver's license and access to a vehicle are mandatory.
Ability to lift approximately 23 kilograms, with a recommendation for a team approach when lifting heavy equipment.
Salary and Benefits:
Salary: $75,000 - $85,000
Eligibility for group benefits through Sunlife after completing a three-month probation period.

This position offers the opportunity to primarily work remotely from home while serving clients in Calgary, Alberta and the surrounding area. However, on-site visits are frequently required for this role, including our client locations in Edmonton, Red Deer and Winnipeg. Syscal pays for travel and accommodation.
