The Job Summary:
As a member of the Environmental Services Department, the General Maintenance Worker is responsible for performing a variety of tasks involved in the safe operation and maintenance of the facility.
Key Accountabilities & Success Criteria:

Respond to Maintenance calls after hours and weekends and holidays. Determine the need to call in Maintenance Mechanic or contractors.

Minor plumbing work including unplugging toilets, sinks, showers, adjusting taps, piping etc.

Cleaning up minor floods.

Minor electrical work such as changing light bulbs, troubleshooting alarms and alerting the necessary team members.

Daily and weekly corrective and preventative work/repairs to the parking gate system. Remove cash weekly for the Business Office.

Installation, hookup and troubleshoot problems for satellite tv system, installation of TV wall mounts and TV’s in Long Term Care areas.

Assist contractors with information and supplies as required.

General repair around the facility including furniture, appliances, machinery, hanging pictures and responding to minor Worx Hub requests.

Complies with patient safety programs and processes including identifying and reporting adverse events/near misses.

Attends and participates in appropriate safety training or education updates (ie: hand hygiene, emergency code reviews/drills)

Identifies unsafe conditions or practices and takes appropriate action to address them including reporting or removing hazards.

Perform general maintenance and preventative maintenance of Housekeeping equipment, etc.

Perform scheduled cleaning of carpets, stripping and waxing of floors, cleaning ceiling vents, and special projects etc.

Complete meeting room set-ups as scheduled and area floor cleaning.

Support painting and drywall repair as required.

Soiled linen pick-up and delivery.

Back-up coverage and support for Receiving, Central Supply, and Switchboard breaks as needed
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Knowledge of/willing to learn computerized Building Automation System (BAS)
Skills & Abilities:

General maintenance skills
-
Physical ability to do heavy lifting and transporting.

Good attendance record.

Ability to operate and repair machines/equipment under safe working procedures.

Demonstrated organizational, interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills

Able to work independently as well as part of a team.

Use logic to ascertain solutions to problems, follow verbal and written instructions.
Hours of Work: May include shift work & weekends and holidays, 8 hour shifts
Rate of Pay: $24.70-$25.37
