This position is hands on and is responsible to manage, lead, motivate and mentor the day-to-day operations of the reception team, servers, bartenders and server assistants. All the while welcoming guests, assigning and escorting them to tables and taking reservations. This role is also involved in the selection of front of house employees, responsible for training, maintaining extensive knowledge of menu items and services, the development and implementation of procedures, scheduling the front of house, inventory control, the maintenance of the physical restaurant, and ensuring the security of company assets.
Main Duties:
Customers
- Promote Fleetwood Group , brand and core values.
- Respect our relationships with our regular guests, VIP’s, suppliers and industry people, while establishing new customers by collaborating with our team to the benefit of something that outlives us.
- Greet patrons at entrance of restaurant escort them to tables.
- Manage the serving team, to ensure that the guests’ dining experience is dealt with effectively by providing prompt, seamless and attentive service.
- Maintain contact with kitchen and serving teams, and guests to ensure that dining details are handled correctly, and guests’ concerns are addressed before they leave the restaurant.
- Operate point of sales to accept payment from guests for food and beverage and gift card sales.

- Maintain a high customer service focus and convey this attitude to all team members.
- Manage activities of front of house team to ensure that guests receive professional, prompt and courteous service.
- Maintain high standards of personal appearance and hygiene for all team members.
- Develop and build teams and a positive, energized working environment by encouraging and building mutual trust, respect and cooperation among team members and by leading by example.
- Prepare the work schedule for the front of house team and manage daily shifts changes and duty rosters.
- Review time clock in/out for all front of house employees. Ensure that team reports to work as scheduled. Document any late, sick or no-show employees.
- Communicate recruitment needs and plan recommendations in a timely and effective manner to owners.
- Participate in recruiting and hiring process for front of house staff, including interviewing and reference checks of potential candidates.
- Oversee training of new front of house employees and identify the training needs of existing employees and developing training.
- Daily end of day communication using Manager Log Book and reporting with owners on front of house activities, guests, requests, operations, maintenance of equipment and supply requirements.
Managing the Operation and Security
- Maintain a high visibility and profile with guest and troubleshooting where necessary.
- Maintain professionalism, control, and composure in difficult and stressful situations.
- Responsible in preventing discrimination and harassment in the workplace.
- Constantly look for ways to improve our practices, our offerings or our environment, taking inspiration from our team – old and new, suppliers, guests or interested observers.
Supplies, Maintenance & Compliance
- Requisition for necessary dining room, lounge, serving areas, restroom and waiting room supplies and equipment.
- Inspect lounge, waiting and serving areas, banquet rooms and all restrooms and equipment for cleanliness, proper set-up, availability of supplies, at beginning of each service and mid service, and arrange cleaning, as necessary.
- Ensure we are in compliance with Alberta Health Services for Food Handling, Alberta Gaming and Liquor Commission, Occupational, Health and Safety (OH&S), Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS)
Qualifications, Knowledge & Skills:
- Previous experience with demonstrated success in a comparable role for an establishment of similar service style, guest capacity, staff number, (at least 3 years preferred).
- Advanced knowledge of industry best practices, guest services and food and beverage.
- Strong communication skills with ability to establish and develop relationships with employees, guests, vendors, and partners.
- Demonstrated ability to consistently meet or exceed sales objectives.
- Practiced leadership skills in a hospitality environment and demonstrated ability to manage and train a team while positively influencing employee behavior and development.
- Strong team player that leads positively by example and has demonstrated the ability to reliably execute or delegate work to meet objectives.
- Demonstrated ability to organize efficient work schedules, delegate tasks and work effectively under pressure to achieve objectives.
- Experience handling employee issues/concerns and executing performance management procedures including performance reviews, disciplinary actions, and terminations.
- Experience and knowledge of to operate a Point-of-Sale system, payment terminals, reservation and take-out order systems.
- Ability to walk and stand for extended periods of time and lift 50 lbs.
