If you are a creative problem-solver with a passion for optimizing manufacturing and operational systems, we invite you to join our dynamic team.
Summary
As a Mechanical Engineer, you will play a crucial role in designing and developing mechanical components and systems for various applications. Your primary objective will be to create innovative and efficient designs that meet client specifications, adhere to industry standards, and ensure the functionality and reliability of mechanical systems. You will work closely with cross-functional teams and utilize SolidWorks to bring designs from concept to reality.
This position reports to and interacts with the Designer Supervisor to update, seek guidance, and obtain necessary approvals. Key collaboration is within the Engineering Department.
Responsibilities and Duties
Mechanical Design - Collaborate with engineers, and other stakeholders to understand project requirements, objectives, and constraints. Develop mechanical design concepts and solutions based on client specifications, functional requirements, and industry standards. Create detailed 2D and 3D models, assemblies, and drawings using CAD software (SolidWorks and DraftSight). Troubleshoot and problem-solve during the fabrication process to ensure a high-quality product.
Component Selection and Integration - Select appropriate materials, components, and mechanical systems to meet design objectives, performance requirements, and cost constraints. Integrate mechanical components and systems into larger assemblies or products, ensuring proper fit, function, and compatibility.
Engineering Analysis - Perform engineering calculations and analyses to validate design concepts, assess structural integrity, and ensure compliance with safety standards.
Documentation and Technical Drawings - Create detailed technical drawings, specifications, and Bill of Materials (BOM) to communicate design intent to manufacturing teams and suppliers accurately. Maintain proper documentation, revision control, and versioning of design files, ensuring accuracy and accessibility. Detail/dimension all drawings and ensure that the shop can build the desired assembly from the information provided on the drawing. Assemble the shop folder to include all organized drawings along with a general arrangement drawing and any other information the shop may require to build the fan.
Design Optimization and Continuous Improvement - Identify opportunities for design optimization, cost reduction, and performance enhancement through research, analysis, and innovation. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement design improvements and resolve technical challenges.
Prototyping and Testing Support - Support the prototyping and testing of mechanical designs, providing guidance and feedback to ensure functional and reliable prototypes. Collaborate with technicians and engineers to troubleshoot and resolve design-related issues during prototype development and testing.
Project Management - Manage multiple design projects concurrently, ensuring timely completion within budget and meeting quality standards. Track project progress, communicate updates to stakeholders, and address any issues or challenges that may arise. Review order and project scope
(whether the product is standard or custom) and organize the best process plan. Requisition of foreign parts as required.
Site Visits - Conducting site visits when necessary to investigate operating problems after fan installation or to gather information for future projects (replacement fans, rotor assemblies, retro-fit VIV, etc., Perform testing on assembled fans or sub-assemblies of fans (bump tests, cross-phase measurement, run-tests, and flow tests).
Other duties (as assigned).
