Summary:
Reporting to the Chief Technology Officer, Information Services, The Business Analyst will play a crucial role in HIS optimization by bridging the gap between the business needs and the technical capabilities of the HIS tool. By way of creating effective requirements, the incumbent, will significantly improve the usage, efficiency, and effectiveness of our system by streamlining workflows, improving education and comfort with the HIS and increasing the use of patient safety features. By conducting research and gathering data from clinicians, the Business Analyst will be the vital link between the business and SWAT team (assembled specifically for this optimization) and will work closely with the Project Manager to align on scope and schedule and be a key resource to making this initiative a success.
Responsibilities:
- Help to enhance HIS by working with the SWAT team to identify and implement improvements
- Ensure that enhancements meet the business objectives and goals of the organization
- Elicit and gather requirements
- Understand the clinician’s preferences and behaviours, so you can provide valuable insights to the optimization team that can help enhance a tool that is tailored to the users' needs
- Identify areas that need improvement, and work with the optimization team to make the necessary changes that can help to improve:
- Improved use of HIS features that support high quality care
- Overall user experience
- Translate high level business concepts/ideas to actionable business plans
- Define strategy to meet organization objectives by identifying and proposing solutions for business needs
- Maintain complete knowledge of HIS operations and functions
- Conduct post engagement survey, as well as utilizing data from Lights On, which can quantify improvements in certain workflows in real time
- Facilitate discussions with key stakeholders/user groups of the HIS
- Execute complex analysis, identify root cause of problems and contribute to development of solutions
- Performing analysis on current state and future state business processes, identifying gaps, and making gap recommendations to stakeholders
- Liaise with Clinical partners to analyze complex problems, and understand business goals and objectives and develops solutions/makes recommendations based on an understanding of the business strategy and stakeholder needs
- Builds effective relationships, collaborates and ensures alignment with internal/external stakeholders.
- Maintain complete knowledge of website operations and functions.
- Facilitate discussions with key stakeholders/user groups of our website
- Execute complex analysis, identify root cause of problems and contribute to development of solutions
- Performing analysis on current state and future state business processes, identifying gaps, and making gap recommendations to stakeholders
- Liaise with Clinical partners to analyze complex problems, and understand business goals and objectives and develops solutions/makes recommendations based on an understanding of the business strategy and stakeholder needs.
- Builds effective relationships, collaborates and ensures alignment with internal/external stakeholders.
- Works with internal stakeholders and SMEs to elicit, gather the requirements and translate into a plan with prioritization
- Coordinate with various teams to analyze business requirements
- Ensure compliance with Hospital laws and regulations.
- Successfully manage competing priorities and navigate within ambiguity
- Integrate business principles and practices to ensure consistency and evolution of the hospital’s business vision
- Monitor best practices, new technologies and business practices in the healthcare domain
- Conduct meetings and presentations to share ideas and findings with project sponsors and management
- Participate in the realization of deliverable
Qualifications:
- Undergraduate degree in Business Administration, Science, Health Care Administration or a related healthcare field is required
- Masters in Business Administration or Health Services Administration is preferred
- Minimum of 3 years of demonstrated experience in a similar role, preferably in a healthcare setting is required
- Clinical experience would be an asset
- Proficient in MS Office Suite including Word, Visio, MS Project™ and SharePoint™ with advanced skills in Excel and PowerPoint
- Experience with large scale organizational change initiatives
- Business analysis and workflow charting experience
- Strong business plan writing skills
- Experience working with project management methodologies and clinical process analysis
- Excellent critical thinking and decision-making skills
- Extremely organized and detail oriented person
- High level of initiative and decisiveness with the ability to work effectively and meet competing deadlinesStrong communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders at all levels
