DUTIES:
Without limiting the generality of the foregoing, reporting to the Branch/Operations Manager the Warehouse & Dispatch Supervisor is responsible for performing the following tasks:
· Assist branch/operations manager in interviewing, hiring, and training of warehouse, yard and delivery personnel.
· Responsible for staffing/scheduling and supervision of warehouse/yard/delivery staff, including conducting weekly staff meetings.
· Prepares journeys in Bistrack’s “Journey Planner†daily with assigned drivers and swampers, completing all shipping documents, and obtaining and reporting to vendors the hours/mileage from delivery units at month-end.
· Responsible for the upkeep, maintenance, and repairs of all warehouse and yard facilities including equipment, structures, signage, racking systems, lighting, controls, etc. Repairs to be completed within one week maximum
· Completes all shipping documents, warehouse and delivery damage reports, attaching liability waivers with delivered sales orders when necessary.
· Communicate with sales staff when requiring additional delivery information
· Responsible for proper and professional inventory handling and management, cleanliness within the yard, warehouse and personal office space and security of both warehouse and yard facilities, including quality control of all deliveries
· Ensures that customer service is at its highest level at all times
· Responsible for daily operating efficiency (including wage expenses, inventory damages and order “fill†accuracy) including flow of goods to and from job site deliveries
· Must check, sign-off, and authorize release of all built-up orders prior to their loading
· Responsible for checking incoming vendor shipments for accuracy and condition and selecting delivery units to maximize load levels and efficiency
· Required to have total knowledge of all activities/issues within the yard and warehouse (to the best of your ability)
· Prepares and distributes the “Saturday Task†list. Ensures that the list is followed and completed (either personally or with the direction of the supervisor on shift)
· Conducts a thorough walk-about of yard and warehouse with the Operations Manager, minimum of once weekly. Diarize changes and corrective measures required and have these carried out within 48 hours
· On occasion create purchase orders for equipment repair in conjunction with branch/operations manager for the purposes of fleet/equipment maintenance.
· Follows and enforces company policies and procedures, including CGS “15 Rules of Dispatchingâ€
· Carry out site visits on occasion to verify proper delivery equipment to be used.
· Additional duties may be assigned by the Branch/Operations Manager.
QUALIFICATIONS:
· Minimum three years warehouse supervisory experience preferably in the building supply industry
· Minimum 3 years dispatch experience
· Class 3 License or willingness to obtain
· Must have excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
· Working knowledge of MS Office
· Must be able to demonstrate ability to prioritize tasks based on relative importance and urgency
· Attention to detail and accuracy
· Must have strong leadership skills
· Fork Lift Certified
· Must have or be willing to obtain a class 3 driver’s license.
