Job Summary
Acumen is looking for a Cyber Security Consultant for a position at our Canadian office (hybrid remote work schedule available). The successful candidate must be a graduate of Computer/Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related discipline, who is interested in pursuing their professional career.
The successful candidate will use their cyber security knowledge, as well as knowledge of computer systems, software and network environments, to support Acumen’s cyber security projects. Although this position is based out of our Canadian location, we have clients across North America, and travel is required. The successful candidate must be able to obtain a work permit in order to travel and work outside of Canada.
Responsibilities and Duties
Cyber Security:
- Conduct patch assessments and assist clients with patch management programs
- Assist with vulnerability assessments and penetration testing of IT and Operational Technology (OT) environments
- Assist in the development of programs for cyber security risk identification, prioritization, and remediation
- Assist with the installation and configuration of software and hardware systems for critical infrastructure
- Assist in the design and implementation of networking and cyber security components such as firewalls, IDS/IPS, malware prevention, logging and SIEM solutions
- Assist with client documentation, processes, and procedures
General:
- Develop and deliver reports and presentations for clients
- Contribute to the development of proposals
- Assist in project/client management as required by the Project Managers
- Provide analysis of products, including those involving hardware and software, as required
- Willingness to learn other Acumen services such as operational technology, regulatory compliance (NERC Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) standards), and energy solutions/services
- Assist with Acumen business development activities
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer/Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent
- 2-3 years of relevant experience, preferably in the electric or utility industry
- Experience/Knowledge in computer systems, software, and network environments
- Experience/knowledge of Operational Technology systems and security
- Understanding and application of cyber security best practices
- Familiarity with penetration tests, vulnerability assessments
- Familiarity with cyber security standards and frameworks
- Knowledge and experience with cloud platforms and containers
- P.Eng. designation preferred (or working towards it)
- Cyber security designations such as CISSP, CISM, CEH, CCNA and/or CCNP preferred
- Exceptional interpersonal and relationship management skills
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
- Analytical thinking and critical problem-solving skills
- Ability to learn quickly and apply new technologies
- Strong attention to detail
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work in a team environment and as an individual contributor
- Must pass a criminal, cross-identity and financial security clearance check
- Must be legally authorized to work in Canada and able to obtain a work permit and travel for work outside of Canada
Working Environment
- Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment with minimal physical effort required; remote work schedule available
- Visits to industrial client sites may be required; appropriate personal protective equipment will be provided
- The candidate must be capable and willing to travel anywhere in North America or internationally by commercial airline or other designated mode of transportation, on relatively short notice and capable and willing to accept periodic extended periods of absence (e.g., up to two weeks) from home, for short term assignments.

Salary: $70,000.00-$80,000.00 per year
