Human Resource Manager

Other Information: The Human Resource Manager is responsible for providing recommendations on, developing,
and implementing HR strategies and programs that support and align with the division's strategic plan. The Manager
will be responsible for process development for all HR functions, including recruitment, staffing, compensation,
benefits, training, employee relations, and compliance, and provide recommendations to Senior Administration on
improvements to those functions. The ideal candidate should be a strategic thinker with excellent leadership skills
and experience in successful change management.
Responsibilities:
- Facilitate HR department process improvement to provide exemplary, consistent service to the organization
- Collaborate with senior administration to develop long-term HR strategies and processes that support the
division's strategic plan
- Recommend, develop, and implement HR policies and procedures, including employee handbook and
orientation materials that are in keeping with the longer-term planning.
- Manage the recruitment process, including providing recommendations and assistance on job postings,
resume screening, interviewing, and hiring for all school division positions
- Create resources to facilitate equitable and consistent HR practices across the organization
- Ensure compliance with all provincial and federal employment legislation and regulations
- Recommend, develop and conduct training programs for employees on various HR topics, such as sexual
harassment, diversity, and inclusion
- Oversee administration of employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, and
other benefits
- Develop and maintain positive employee relations, including conflict resolution, disciplinary actions, and
grievance procedures
- Develop and implement strategies to improve employee engagement and retention
- Analyze and report to Senior Administration on HR metrics and data to identify trends and opportunities for
improvement
- Manage the department budget
- Perform other HR-related duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field; master's degree preferred.
A combination of education and experience may be considered
- Demonstrated experience in HR management and change management
- Knowledge of Federal and Provincial employment legislation and regulations
- Project Management experience with the ability to manage multiple projects/issues simultaneously
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal with a focus on clearly explaining new concepts,
having a service orientation, and proven track record for effectively managing difficult conversations
- Proven ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders
