We seek a full-time Personal care aid for my wife, who has advanced ALS (Lou Gherig's Disease). This job involves providing complete care including:
-use of lift equipment- lifting slings, overhead hoist, hoyer-type lifts,
-management of Percutaneous feeding tube
-use of tilt-in-space and standard manual wheelchair
-sit-to stand two person assist manoevers.
-use of suction equipment.
-help with computer use
-help with meal preparation
-administering medication
Will provide on the job training.
Our home is fully equipped and employees work in pairs during day and evening shifts, and individually on nights. Though this disease is in its advanced stages, my wife remains completely interactive, cognitively sharp, with a strong community of family and friends. This is an extremely personal job, the demands of which require a high level of trust. The work takes place in a private home, and with that, comes an expectation of professionalism, integrity, and discretion. An ideal candidate will be physically fit, competent with sit-to stand techniques and use of lift equipment. A willingness to learn and adapt is essential. Excellent communication skills are needed. This job requires patience, punctuality and dependability. Previous experience in patient care is certainly an asset, but not required.
Days and evening shifts are available including weekends.
