Kelburn Recovery Centre is a progressive, interdisciplinary addictions recovery centre dedicated to excellence in state-of-the-art treatment modalities. Our 12-bed facility is located on 40 acres of property surrounded by trees, walking trails, and a 9-hole golf course. Services include in-house residential treatment, detox, after-care, and family support programs with the opportunity to develop an outpatient program. This is a permanent, full-time (40 hrs/week) position.
Working under the supervision of the Clinical Director, RPN's are an integral part of the diverse clinical team. RPN’s will be responsible for providing comprehensive intake assessments, group programming, individual counselling and ongoing care planning for individuals experiencing substance use disorders.
The R.P.N.’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Interviewing clients to obtain pertinent information, including medical history, family, and social history, performing comprehensive physical assessments, and collaborating on goals of care
- Assessment, administration, and documentation of medications with a sound knowledge base of safe, responsible, and accountable medication practices
- Maintaining regular contact with other agencies/professionals regarding client progress and resource opportunities
- Consulting with Nurse Practitioners, Psychiatrists and other specialists regarding treatment plans and make amendments, as required
- Referring clients to other services to supplement treatment and counselling
- Facilitating Psycho-educational and Recovery based groups for both clients and their families
- Maintaining up-to-date documentation including counselling notes, progress reports, etc.
- Developing post-treatment recovery plans with client to ensure supports in place upon completing treatment
- Empower clients to develop treatment plan in their community and advocate with community resources for client when necessary
- Provide referrals to programs for continuing recovery in community
- Document interactions with client and communicate with staff regarding client care
- Consult with clinical team regarding client progress and treatment approach
- Demonstrate leadership skills when working with members of the interdisciplinary team, including providing supervision to support staff
Abilities and Attributes:
- Lived experiences that support clinical competencies are valued
- Prior education /experience in addictions recovery
- Understanding of principles involved in trauma-informed, person-centered approaches
- Positive attitude, strong interpersonal skills, and collaborative working style
- Respectful and culturally aware
- Ability to assess and clearly articulate clients’ needs
- Accurate documentation skills
- Ability to handle highly confidential and sensitive issues with discretion, tact, and diplomacy
- Effective interpersonal and community relations skills
- Ability to utilize critical thinking to make sound clinical judgements
Credentials include:
- Bachelors or Master’s Degree in Psychiatric Nursing with current licensure
- Completion of addiction training programs and/or combination of relevant work and lived experience is desired
- Experience and/or education in psychedelic-assisted therapy, mindfulness-based therapies, and mind-body modalities are assets
- Registration with an appropriate regulatory body (The College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses of Manitoba)
- A valid Driver’s License and access to a reliable vehicle
Applicants require a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred. A security check is considered current if it was obtained no more than six (6) months prior to the start of employment.
Applicants must also possess valid Driver’s License and hold current certification in CPR and First Aid prior to start date.
