The Opportunity:
We are looking for an energetic, passionate, and genuine personality to join our family at Point Grey Golf & Country Club. The goal for all staff is to offer ‘Best in Class’ service and create lasting member experiences. We are hiring for full-time and part-time seasonal positions. We offer competitive hourly rates plus a flat gratuity, we’ll provide meals each shift with something from our menu and you’ll receive discounts on goods from our pro shop. The ability to work under pressure and the flexibility to meet work shift demands including holidays and weekends is essential. This position will be full-time with part-time hours in the shoulder season.
LINE COOK
Responsibilities:
- Assist with purchasing, receiving, and preparing only the freshest quality ingredients, to ensure the highest level of satisfaction.
- Work as a team to develop, maintain and follow correct food storage systems, ensuring the high standards of quality expected of the Club.
- Observe and absorb fundamentals of food preparation and presentation.
- Perform banquet preparation to correct quantities and assists with set up for buffets, barbecues, and receptions.
- Help maintain the high standards of cleanliness and sanitation of the kitchen areas.
- Remain up-to-date with food trends by monitoring local restaurants, clubs and reading relevant information.
- Assist in the continuous effort to ensure smooth and efficient work and service flows.
- Promote team spirit between kitchen and service staff.
- Is a team player and assists others when required, such as with dish washing, banquet preparation, and other kitchen-related duties.
- Perform any other reasonable request as assigned by Chef or Sous Chef.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- Degree or diploma in the food services industry.
- Three years of experience in the food services industry.
- Strong working knowledge of food services industry principles, methods, practices, and techniques.
- Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
- Demonstrated time management skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse environment.
- Ability to withstand extended periods of standing, and other physically demanding conditions.
- Ability to operate in high pressure environment and remain calm in urgent situations.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends and holidays, as well as regular overtime.
