We are looking for a Technologist who can help FPInnovations support the industry's digital transformation offensive (Offensive de transformation numérique (OTN)) torwards more effective use of digital data generated by harvesting machines (multipurpose harvesters and processors) and help solve fiber supply challenges.

RESPONSIBILITIES
-
Support forestry contractors in the application of a calibration protocol for harvesters & processors and the adjustment and implementation of standardization and data communication solutions offered by FPI
-
Conduct maintenance checks and quality assurance audit of contractors’ equipment (the harvesting head)
-
Validate calibrations by sampling and tracking cut log measurement data
-
Understand the issues faced by harvesting operations and contribute collaboratively to technical solutions that bring clear, impactful benefits to members
-
Be a trusted collaborator in safety matters; adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures.
QUALIFICATIONS
-
DEC or Bachelor’s degree in mechanics, forestry technology, mechanical engineering, mechatronics, or a related field

Valid driver’s permit and availability to travel and conduct field work across Canada
SKILLS

Team player, curious and focused on improving the forest industry.

Demonstrated mechanical aptitude

Great at solving problems, debugging, troubleshooting, designing and implementing solutions to complex technical and quality control issues

Ablity to build relationships and gain trust with diverse groups

Computer savvy

Knowledge of the operation of harvesting systems commonly used in Eastern Canada an asset

Ability to take ownership of new data analysis tools in complex settings

Resilience and adaptability to changing priorities

Strong oral and written communication skills

Ability to work on several concurrent projects autonomously, good organizational skills and a strong sense of initiative
