Expected Average Number of Hours: 37.5 hrs weekly ( not a guarantee of hours )
As an integral member of the Ambulatory Care team, the Clerical Associate’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to: manage incoming calls, booking patient appointments and follow up with reminder calls, registration, verify and update accurate patient demographics, verify and update medical insurance benefits and patient payment sources, process physician orders, coordinate diagnostic and lab tests, prepare patient charts, filing, scanning and indexing, faxing, directing and coordinating communication in and out of the department, order supplies and maintain inventory.
This position provides service to several clinics (C.2 & D.0 including Pain Clinic). The Clerical Associate must maintain strict confidentiality of all patient information in accordance with the Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA).
This position will work days. The physical demands of the role may include but are not limited to sitting, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting and bending. This position contributes to ensuring there is a safe environment for patients, staff and visitors. Other duties as assigned and as per job fact sheet.

Skills and Qualifications:

Completion of a Health Office Administration course required

Minimum of 2 years of current clerical experience is required
-
Successful completion of secondary school required
-
Working knowledge of software including Meditech, MS office suite and Ocean is required

Current knowledge for patient flow and clinical necessities of an Outpatient Clinic is required

Must be able to type 60 WPM accurately

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

Ability to work in a fast paced environment

Proven track record interfacing with a broad range of clients including physician offices and patients

Strong decision-making skills and solid judgment
-
Proven track record coordinating, prioritizing and developing effective workflow methods to increase efficiency

Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis is required
