The St. Joseph’s Health Center Toronto Department of Psychiatry, Collaborative Care Clinic Program is seeking an English speaking psychiatrist to join our program. The clinical focus of this position involves providing general psychiatric consultation and collaborative care to the population that lives within our geographical catchment. Priority is given to patients requiring emergency and inpatient resources as well as patients with major mental illness. Elective referrals from the community are also accepted in order of priority. We do not otherwise limit access according to diagnoses or symptoms and thus our service is comprehensive general psychiatry.
Psychiatrists work with an interdisciplinary team to provide consultation and an episode of care to ambulatory patients and recently discharged patients. Our interdisciplinary teams consist of either master’s level or bachelor level trained mental health clinicians with extensive experience in shared care, case management, recovery support, and short term therapy such as CBT. In addition, two outpatient nurses are available across all teams to assist with clozapine monitoring and delivery of long acting injectable antipsychotics. Our mental health clinicians also facilitate psychotherapy groups as a component of the follow-up care our clinic provides. Opportunities to pursue educational and Quality Improvements [QI] initiatives are encouraged and supported.
We are interested in meeting candidates for this role who are skilled in providing high quality outpatient care across a full range of psychiatric presentations and levels of acuity. In addition, we are also interested in candidates with experience and expertise in medical education, urgent care and shared care models, interdisciplinary collaboration and concurrent disorders.
Candidates for this role must:
Hold an MD degree
Hold (or eligible for certification) in Psychiatry by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in General Psychiatry or an equivalent designation
Be licensed (or eligible for licensure) in the Province of Ontario.
Be eligible for appointment at the University of Toronto
The candidate must be able to function proficiently in English.
