Job Type:
- Union, Full Time Permanent (Day Shift)
- Hours of Work: 10:30 am to 7:00pm
Hourly Rate: $22.76 per hour (wage increase every 4 months as per collective agreement)
Position Summary: The Forklift Operator is required to utilize all Material Handling Equipment (MHE) designed to move, locate, relocate, stack, load/unload containers/trucks. The Forklift operator is accountable for the safe and efficient operation of the MHE. The Forklift operator is responsible for providing timely and accurate service to internal and external customers as well as to maintain high levels of productivity.
Duties & Responsibilities:
· Perform manual tasks as needed to maintain the flow of orders/products for maximum productivity
· Mark and label containers/packages, count products and materials
· Packing/Unpacking/Stacking/Counting of products and packages and disposing of waste
· Load and unload materials and move material into work areas
· Ensure packing specifications are met
· Unload materials and merchandise from incoming vehicles (trailers, containers, etc.) and move them to designated locations
· Must be able to pick, pack and wrap shipments quickly and accurately
· Obtain, move, sort products, materials, containers, and orders
· Replenish picking locations from receiving
· Perform daily cycle counts
· Operate a forklift/order picker/reach truck/swing truck and any other material handling as needed with the utmost care to ensure efficiency and safety
· Locate and move products to pallets or crates for storage or to be shipped out
· Identify damages and report shortages or quality deficiencies
· Inspect material handling equipment daily as per safety requirements
· Keep updated records of inventory and activity logs were applicable
· Maintain quality control, production and safety standards as determined by the company
· Support 5S activities daily
· Cooperate with and assisting other employees and management
· Manually load and unload materials from pallets, skids, platforms, cars and lifting devices
· Accurately ship and receive product
· Support inventory control with accurate documentation
· Follow all workplace safety policies and company policies
· Accurately weigh and document materials
· Provide production data on tags or labels
· Perform other duties as assigned by Manager or designate
Education & Professional Experience:
- Highschool Diploma is required
- Must have 5 years’ experience or more in a similar role
- Must have a valid forklift, order picker, reach truck and swing truck license
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Knowledge with material handling equipment
- Basic computer skills required
- RF knowledge is require
- Good command of the English language
- Good math and reading skills
- Able to learn and apply knowledge quickly
- Able to maintain a clean and safe work environment
- Able to follow procedures and work efficiently
- Must be able to lift/move up to 60lb boxes
- Works well under minimum supervision
- Accuracy and attention to detail
- Strong work ethic and positive team attitude
- Must be able to work independently as well as in groups and with all departments
